602 new COVID-19 cases recorded in the last 24 hours

Kenya recorded 602 more COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours bringing the country’s total caseload to 43,143.

In a statement on Thursday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that the ministry tested 5,618 samples in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 607,241.

Out of the 602 new cases, 585 were Kenyans and 17 were foreigners.

Of these, 407 were male and 195 were female while the youngest case was a one-year old kid and the oldest was aged 93 years.

Kagwe said that some 80 other patients were discharged.

Fifty-one of the new recoveries were home-based care programme and 29 from hospitals in various parts of the country thereby bringing the total number of recoveries to 31,508.

Sadly, eight patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 805.

Nairobi led with 133 cases followed by Nakuru 47, Uasin Gishu 47, Kilifi 46, Kisumu 46, Mombasa 44, Kericho 32, Kakamega 28, Turkana 25, Kisii 21, Machakos 20, Laikipia 13, Nyandarua 12, Bungoma 12, Kiambu 11, Nandi 10.

Busia had 7 cases, Kajiado (7), Baringo (6), Garissa (6), West Pokot (5), Nyamira (5), Makueni (3), Nyeri (2), Embu (2), Siaya (2), Bomet (2), Vihiga (2), Lamu (1), Wajir (1), Samburu (1), Narok (1), Murang’a (1) and Meru (1).
