Police are investigating the gruesome murder of Emily Chepkemoi, a 23-year-old KMTC student.

Chepkemoi who was pursuing clinical medicine was found dead on Sunday after 48 hours of missing.

“She attended lessons up to Friday evening. She later went back home, changed, and went back to school to fetch water because she did not have water at her place. After that, I didn’t hear from her until I got the news that she was dead,” a friend told Nation.

She was found in a pool of blood at her rented house. Her body had been wrapped in a duvet with stab wounds.

Chepkemoi’s friends and neighbors say they heard no commotion and that there was loud music coming from her house.

“I did not hear any commotion, nor did I see anyone getting into the house. So I thought there was a party going on in the house,” her neighbor said.

Homa Bay Township sub-location assistant chief Duncan Oketch said the student was stabbed several times.

“She had deep wounds on her head, back, and neck. She could have been stabbed by a kitchen knife,” he said.

KMTC Homa Bay student leader David Odhiambo called for an elaborate investigation saying “it is not a light matter”.

There are claims that she was killed in a suspected love triangle.
