Hollywood star actress Lupita Nyong’o is holidaying in Lamu, Kenya.
Lupita on Tuesday shared a photo of her embarking from a boat and captioned the location as “Lamu, Kenya.”
She then added “Lamu tamu damu”.
Though she is Kenyan by virtue that she was born of Kenyan parents, she has lived most of her life in Mexico and the US where she went on to launch a successful career in theatre.

Her visit to Kenya comes as a surprise, two months after Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala in January said that they have been seeking audience with Lupita for the last five years.
Balala was responding to criticism by Kenyans who questioned why he appointed British model Naomi Campbell as Magical Kenya International ambassador and not Lupita.
“I know everybody is asking why not Lupita. Lupita has commitments and her managers cannot allow us to access her. We’ve spent the last five years looking for Lupita,” Balala said.
Hours after Balala’s statement, Lupita responded sarcastically with a photo in hard laughter and captioned it “Me when I hear the Kenyan Ministry of Tourism has been looking for me for five years.”
The conversation seemingly died thereafter with no follow up on why the Kenyan Ministry of Tourism could not reach Lupita yet her father, Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o could help with that.
