Jason Derulo surprises Kenyan family with a brand new handicap minivan

American songwriter, singer and dancer Jason Derulo early this week named a US-based nurse Florence Njoroge the Health Care Hero of the week.

Njoroge, a mother of three, joined Derulo virtually from Jefferson, Massachusetts where she gave her interview saying she has been working as a geriatric nurse in Massachusetts.

Besides attending to her patients at work, she has also been taking care of her husband who was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive nervous system disease affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control. The disease turned her husband’s routines such as walking a daunting task.

For the Njoroge’s, a family of five, including 15-yr-old Jason and his two other siblings – Grace and Jenna – each of them has a role in helping out. Jason helps his mum take his father to the car every time he is going out while Grace and Jenna help out with other chores.

Jason, 15, sent a letter to Jimmy Kimmel Live show nominating his mother as a “Health Care Hero”.

“My mum is an amazing nurse and a full time health care taker for my father who continues to gallantly fight Lou Gehrig’s disease also known as ALS…we have so many pressing responsibilities but she never fails to smile,” he stated.

“My household incurs a lot to effectively take care of dad. There are multiple things more normal and happier for instance, we really need a handicap accessible van but that requires a lot of money” the son added.

Touched by the family’s plight, Derulo, who was Jimmy Kimmel’s guest host, surprised the family with a brand new 2020 Chrysler Pacifica minivan courtesy of Chrysler and Vantage Mobility International.

The van features a fully loaded VMI conversion and an in-floor power ramp which can be operated from the vehicle’s remote key, is spacious and has a lot of other safety features.

Visibly taken back by the surprise, Florence, together with her three children could not hide their joy for this new gift.

“I’m so honoured. Thank you so much,” she said adding that she loves her job because she loves it when she makes a difference in someone’s life.
