Mombasa records highest number of new COVID-19 cases in latest brief

The number of new infections in the country continues to soar as the country hits 296 cases.

On Tuesday, Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr Mercy Mwangangi reported that 15 new cases have been confirmed in the last 24 cases.

Of the 15 new cases, 11 are Kenyans while four are foreigners. Mombasa has seven cases while Nairobi has six and Mandera has two cases. Seven are male and eight of them are female.

None of them had a history of travel. Nine cases were picked up by the government’s surveillance team while the rest were from quarantine. They are aged between 19 and 75 years.

Dr Mwangangi said they tested a total of 545 samples.

The CAS hailed the Kenyan military also hailed for standing with medics as they continue giving their best.

On Tuesday, military choppers flew high up with banners engraved with inspirational messages even as the number of new infections continues to soar.
