Nyeri businessman Gerald Guandaru abducted in broad daylight on Tuesday, has a shady past, new details emerge.

Guandaru has battled a criminal case in the past, not to mention that he disappeared in a similar style in 2017.

On May 30, 2017, police reports indicate that Guandaru was abducted and the matter reported at the Nyeri Police Station.

He was found the following day by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers in possession of a rifle and two tusks.

Guandaru was arrested and charged alongside two other people. The case dragged for three years but was acquitted in 2020.

Police probing his second disappearance say it could be a repetition of the first case of his abduction.

It is reported that he was abducted outside his barbershop in Nyeri town by three people.

He had just parked his car outside the barbershop when three men came out of a standby car and asked him to get in, but he refused.

The men appeared to walk away, but they accosted Guandaru as he walked to his barbershop.

They were not bothered by security cameras in the establishment or bystanders looking on.

Police are yet to get leads in the case as they continue combing through CCTV footage from the day the incident happened.
