Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi is not new to controversy.

Behind his controversial demeanour as a fiery politician, he is a man of means.

In a recent episode of the Wicked Edition hosted by Dr Kingori, Sudi opened up on how he lost Ksh11 million to con artists but recovered it in six months.

He had been scammed by money launderers known as wash wash in street slang. Sudi added that he was greedy for more money and had himself to blame.

“I was conned out of all that money but I don’t blame the fraudsters because I was greedy. If you see anyone who has been conned it is because they were greedy and wanted to get rich quick,” Sudi said.

He worked harder when he realized that he had been conned and made another 11 million in six months.

The moral of the story is for people to stay positive about life and never give up.

Sudi urged graduates who feel like they have hit the end of the road to keep their heads high.

“That is why I tell people to never lose hope in life. That’s why we are losing very many young people who are frustrated after finishing school. When you lose hope you can’t recover,” advised the Kapseret MP.

Before he got into politics, Sudi was a wealthy businessman with a portfolio in real estate, farming and the transport industry.

Back in the day, he recalls saving Ksh21,000 for a year and hiring a 7-acre piece of land where he got money to purchase his first car transporting fuel.

He ploughed back Ksh120,000 profits every year from tilling the land, and this was the beginning of his journey to success.

He later bought a matatu and invested in 24 pool tables across Eldoret, each giving him Ksh1,000 or Ksh2,000 daily.

He further diversified and started a clearing and forwarding business.

His deal-breaker came when he ventured into real estate and started selling land to prominent people in society.

“I also met a friend who was selling land and I joined him in the business and together we sold land to prominent people which pushed me to another level,” the MP narrated.

Today, his net worth is in hundreds of millions.
