There could be more to Kalonzo Musyoka missing at the grand ‘swearing-in’ fete for Raila Odinga on Tuesday at Uhuru Park than meets the eye.

Wiper Party Chairman and Makueni Governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana gave a damning revelation on Thursday morning during a breakfast show with Musyi FM, a Kamba radio station.

He accused Raila’s ODM Party of hijacking the whole event and sidelining other parties involved whereas both Raila and Kalonzo were to take the oath.

Prof Kibwana in his account of events said the original plan was for the four principals to meet on Tuesday morning before making way to Uhuru Park together.

However, this never happened because Raila made way to Uhuru Park alone, leaving out his three other co-principals.

“Kalonzo and Raila were to meet that morning. But when Kalonzo got to the venue, only Wetangula and Mudavadi were there

When they contacted Raila, he said he would not make it and would instead proceed to Uhuru Park for the swearing-in,” said the Wiper Party chair.

He added that members of the organizing committee from NASA affiliate parties except those in ODM were kept in the dark on the plans of the fete.

“ODM has not been fair. Even our representatives in the plans were kept in the dark most of the time. We are part of the NASA coalition but most of the time we were not briefed on meetings and progress.”

Kalonzo in his explanation on his absence at the event said he could not make it because his security had been withdrawn moments before he headed out.

He said this made it difficult for him to attend such an even where security stakes were quite yet he did not have any security detail attached to him.

“I was at my house in Karen when a police lorry came very early and took all my bodyguards, there is no way I could have made it to Uhuru Park, I wish Kenyans could understand what we are going through,” he explained after social media was flooded with suggestions he betrayed Raila.

Kalonzo also maintained that “they are very united”.

Raila in response to questions by his supporters at Uhuru Park on the whereabouts of Kalonzo said: “Kalonzo Musyoka is not here with us. But he is together with us in this. He will be sworn in later.”

Kibwana said they are ready to iron out their differences as NASA affiliate parties.

“Yes, there are issues that need to be looked into but I want to assume that the Kamba nation and NASA are intact. All we ask for is respect from our other partner (ODM),” said he.
