Police on Monday arrested a child abductor after a dramatic chase in Naivasha town.

The suspect Charles King’ori alias Delvin Maina is alleged to have abducted a four-year-old child Liam Ngushwa from Gatunyu in Thika on June 2.

Liam was in the company of the suspect who took off with him. The baby’s parents reported the issue at Kirwarwa Police Station and DCI detectives swung into action.

According to the DCI, Delvin tried to conceal his looks by plaiting his hair in one salon within Naivasha town but police were tipped off.

“Detectives were however too smart for the suspect’s antics, since they pounced on him as he escaped on a getaway motorbike. His arrest follows stealth & relentless efforts by the investigators,” DCI stated.

Delvin worked as a farmhand for Baby Liam’s grandparents in Gatunyu.

His accomplices managed to get away but police are in hot pursuit of them.

“Today’s rescue followed a meticulous mission, executed by detectives from the Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau, augmented by their Special Service Unit counterparts. Meanwhile, detectives are pursuing baby Liam’s captors, who escaped narrowly moments before the rescue,” the Directorate said.

Baby Liam’s rescue comes as police investigate the murder of eight-year-old Shantel Nzembi.

Shantel was murdered in Kitengela on May 29. The prime suspect, 27-year-old Nativity Mutindi Nthuku is in police custody.
