On Sunday morning, Michael Maina woke up to the biggest shock of his life at their Murang’a farm.

Maina who is in his late 20s, practices animal husbandry at his parents’ farm.

He had reared 5000 chickens and five exotic dairy cows. But he woke to a rude morning to find all his poultry and cows burnt beyond recognition.

A teary Maina said he I yet to understand why anyone would unleash such inhumanity against him, yet the project also benefited the community.

Worse is that he financed the project through several loans, including one from Equity Bank.

“They have set me back. In truth, those chicken would spend Ksh200,000 on feed for 10 days and I am now in debt of chicken feed amounting to Ksh600,000,” he said amid sobs.

He added: “Youth Fund had loaned me some money for this project. It hasn’t been paid yet. This project has also been funded by Equity and it hasn’t been paid at all but the devil came and brought everything down.”

He asked society to “have a human heart” but noted that he forgave the perpetrators.

Celebrities led by Kameme FM breakfast show co-host Muthee Kiengei rallied Kenyans of goodwill to help out Maina.

He asked Kenchic also to help the Maina get back on his feet.

“Why and How did someone decide to put on fire more than 6000 chicken in Murang’a??? What would really lead someone to cause this mess……I felt pain until now I can feel the pain that I saw on that man’s face. May God Have mercy on us……….Tag that farmer Here I am up to something for Him. My Friends Kenchic kenya Lets do this….,” one of his Facebook posts read.

He promised to set up a pay bill to enable Kenyans to fundraise.
