A total of 107 men and 77 women are currently battling coronavirus in Kenya going by new data released by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.
On Thursday, he announced that Kenya has a total of 184 cases after five people tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
A total of 308 people were tested. Of the five aged between 33 and 77 years, three are Kenyans and two are foreign nationals. Three of them have travel history from Tanzania, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Three are male and two are female.
Two of the new patients are from Nairobi while one is from Mombasa.
The CS says one out of the five was from a quarantine facility while the rest were contact traced by government surveillance teams.
In a breakdown of the age bracket of the 184 patients being treated for COVID-19, three are below 15 years, 49 are between (15-28 years), 119 (30-59) and 13 are above 60 years.
Three more people have been discharged putting the total number of recovered patients at 12.
However, Trademark and Hillpark hotels which were designated quarantine centres have been shut down.
Traders it the markets, jua kali artisans, salons and barbershops were also warned of stiffer regulations in light of reports that they have disregarded laid down safety measures.
Mr Kagwe said traders at the market are not observing social distancing and wearing f face masks, the same case for barbershops and salons.
