Kenya recorded 631 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours bringing the country’s caseload to 47,843.
In a statement on Friday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 6,142 samples were tested in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of samples to 646,367.
Out of the new cases 596 were Kenyans and 35 were foreigners.
Of the new cases confirmed, 420 were male and 211 were female while the youngest case was a one-year-old child and the oldest was 91.
Another 371 patients were discharged; 313 were from home-based care and 58 were from hospitals around the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 33,421.
Sadly 14 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 884.
The Health CS added that 20 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 59 on supplementary oxygen and 16 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
A total of 1,142 patients are currently admitted in various hospitals while 3,238 are on home-based isolation and care.
In Friday’s new cases, Nairobi led with 235 followed by Mombasa with 76, Kilifi (52), Uasin Gishu (28), Bungoma (23), Busia (23), Kiambu (22), Machakos (21), Nyeri (15), Kajiado (13), Homabay (12), Kisii (12), Trans Nzoia (11), Meru (10), Siaya (7), Turkana (6), Elgeyo Marakwet (6), Kakamega (4).
Marsabit (3), Nakuru (3), Narok (3), Embu (3), Nyamira (2), Nandi (2), Makueni (2), Vihiga (2) while Nyandarua, Tharaka Nithi, Murang’a, Isiolo and Kwale reported one case each.
