136 new coronavirus cases confirmed, tally now at 35,020

Kenya on Saturday recorded 136 new coronavirus cases bringing the country’s total to 35,020.

A statement by the Ministry of Health indicated that a sample size of 3,707 was tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative tests to 471,384. 

All of the new cases are Kenyans except 12 who are foreigners.

The youngest is an eight-month-old infant and the oldest is 75. Of the new cases, 85 were male and 51 were females.  

Some 99 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 21,158.

Sixty-four of those discharged were from the home-based programme, while 35 were discharged from various health facilities.

Five more people died bringing the death toll to 594.

Nairobi had the highest positive cases with 35 in the last 24 hours.

Other counties with new cases include; Mombasa 25, Kajiado 11, Turkana 9, Kisumu 9 and Migori 8.
