1,459 new COVID-19 cases recorded, 17 more succumb

There were 1,459 COVID-19 cases recorded on Thursday bringing the total cases in the country to 74,145.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe in a statement to newsrooms said that 10,146 samples were tested bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 815,040.

Out of the 1,459 cases, 1419 are Kenyans and 40 are foreigners.

Of the cases, 835 are male and 624 are female, while the youngest case is a four-month-old infant and the oldest is aged 97 years.

Another 780 patients recovered from the virus bringing the total recoveries to 50,658.

Of these, 690 were from the home-based care programme, and 90 were from various hospitals around the country.

Sadly, 17 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 1,330.
