A multi-agency team seized 20kgs of cocaine at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Wednesday evening.

The narcotics were concealed as Kericho Gold Tea.  They were found on the KLM Airside.

Police say the drugs were destined for Amsterdam aboard a KLM flight.

A source within the police ranks has intimated that police are investigating an employee at JKIA in relation to the drug ring.

The drug bust according to a source privy to the case is as a result of fallout within the members of the drug cartel.

It is reported that one of the members failed to load the heist into the intended flight advertently.

Titus Karuri, the Kenya Airport Police Commandant said investigations have been launched.

“We will share information once done with the investigations,” he said according to Nairobi News.

A number of KQ staff have been arrested in the past few months in connection to drug cartels.
