About 250 British nationals living in Kenya have reunited with their families in the United Kingdom since the suspension of international flights by Kenya Airways (KQ) which came into effect on March 25.
KQ said the suspension was informed by the need to cushion Kenyans from getting infected with COVID-19.
The third additional flight from Nairobi to Heathrow in London took off on Saturday.
“With thanks to @British_Airways the third additional flight from NBO-LHR took off last night. Over 250 British nationals have returned home so far since the suspension of Int’l flights,” stated UkinKenya.
British High Commissioner to Kenya Jane Mariott asked British nationals living in Kenya who wish to travel back home to register with @UKinKenya.
“If you are a British National, would still like to go back to the UK but didn’t get tickets on any of the four BA flights, please follow the @UKinKenya link below and if we get enough interest, we will see if we can do a further flight in the near future.”
British nationals who wish to return home were urged to share their full name, British passport number, date of birth, phone number and location in Kenya with the Mission.
Mariott further thanked State House for enabling the British Airways to make flights to London from Nairobi amid a suspension of all international flights.
“Thank you @StateHouseKenya and @British_Airways for allowing families to be reunited in the UK and across the world and for stranded tourists to get home. That was the last of the agreed outbound flights for now. Stay safe,” Mariott tweeted.
