261 new coronavirus cases recorded, total cases now 39,184

Kenya recorded 261 more COVID-19 cases on Saturday bringing the total number of cases in the country to 39,184.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that they tested 3,387 samples in the last 24 hours. The total number of samples confirmed so far is 559,098.

Some 312 more patients recovered, with 229 of them from the home-based care programme and 83 from various hospitals, bringing the total number to 26,426.

Three more patients succumbed to the virus, raising the death toll to 728.

Nairobi had the highest  number of cases with 128 news cases followed by Kisumu 37, Mombasa 13, Kisii 12 and Kilifi 11.

Uasin Gishu recorded 8 cases, Machakos 7, Nakuru, Kajiado, Kiambu and Meru had five cases each, and Kitui four.

West Pokot and Nyamira had three cases each. Garissa and Tharaka-Nithi two each.
