A man from Machakos has accused three policemen of robbing him shortly after he got out of a banking hall in in Machakos on Friday.

Jervason Musinga Kiendi, 33, claims that he was shocked to find the three police officers at a police station where he went to report the incident.

Kiendi says he was accosted by three men and bundled into a saloon car and his Sh390, 000 was taken away. He was dumped in a bush at Konza.

But when he went to Machakos Police Station to report, he found two of his attackers at the police desk and they refused to record his statement.

He returned to the station the following day when he found the third attacker manning the desk. He kept him waiting at the reports office.

Kiendi decided to report the matter to Salama Police Station in Makueni County.

In his statement, he said he withdrew Sh400, 000 from Equity Bank and spent Sh10, 000 immediately.

He walked to Machakos County Referral Hospital when a salon car with three male occupants stopped at the gate where he was and bundled him into the car.

Kiendi’s statement added that they threatened to shoot him before they drove off to Machakos-Konza road where he was robbed and dumped.

He was offered a ride by a good samaritan to Machakos Police Station.

“He says he found two of the men who robbed him of the money at the report office in civilian clothes. He alleges he tried to make a report on the incident but was told to wait outside until late in the evening,” an officer aware of the matter told the Standard.

Machakos County police boss Samuel Mukinda said they are investigating the matter.

“We intend to visit the bank to confirm if he withdrew the money and conduct a thorough probe before we establish a way forward,” said Mukinda adding Kiendi’s allegations were weighty and would be treated seriously.
