We are likely to record increased numbers of COVID-19 patients in the coming days, Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman has warned.
He on Tuesday said that this leaves the country with the daunting task on implementing containment measures which are key in fighting the novel coronavirus.
He spoke as the country recorded 127 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours bringing the total number to 2,989. A total of 2,247 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
124 of the new patients are Kenyans and three are foreigners aged between 3 weeks to 72 years.
84 are male and 33 are female.
Nairobi had 62 cases, Mombasa 32, 14 from Busia – all truck drivers – Machakos 4, Bungoma 3, Kwale 1 and Uasin Gishu 1 each.
In Nairobi, Kibra had 21 cases, Westlands 14, Ruaraka 12, Kamukunji 5, Langata 4, Dagoretti North 3, Makadara 1, Embakasi South 1 and Embakasi West.
Kiambu’s cases were from Thika, Ruiru and Kikuyu.
Three more people passed on bringing the total to 88.
Dr Aman added that 72 frontline health workers have tested positive for COVID-19. Currently, 19 of them are being treated in different facilities.
24 patients have however been discharged bringing the total recoveries to 873.
