727 new COVID-19 cases recorded

Kenya on Tuesday recorded 727 new COVID-19 cases bringing the caseload to 78,512

Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi said that the new cases were from 4,913 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

Out of the 727 cases, 705 were Kenyans and 22 were foreigners. 458 were male and 269 were female. The youngest case was a four-year-old while the oldest was aged 88 years.

Dr Mwangangi said that 806 patients were discharged bringing the total recoveries in the country to 52,709.

From the new recoveries, 701 were from home-based care programme while 105 were from various health facilities. 

Sadly, 17 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 1,409.

Another 51 patients are currently in ICU while 106 moved to general wards and high dependency unit in the last few days.
