Administrative Attaché at Kenya’s Consulate-General in Los Angeles passes on

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said it will issue a full report into the death of a Kenyan administrative attaché at Kenya’s Consulate-General in Los Angeles, US.

Ms. Ruth Anyango Ogonda died on Friday last week April 10. Her cause of death still remains unknown.

Her colleagues at the consulate intimated that she was taken ill a day before her demise at her residence and was rushed to Olympia Medical Centre, Los Angeles where got admitted. A day later, she passed on.

Now, Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Ministry under the stewardship of CS Raychelle Omamo says a full report into her cause of death will be issued once an autopsy is conducted.

@ForeignOfficeKE mourns the untimely death on Friday,10th April of Ms. Ruth Anyango Ogonda- Administrative Attaché at Kenya’s Consulate-General in Los Angeles; The Ministry will issue statement upon receipt of the autopsy (Coroner’s)report from the hospital on the cause of death,” the ministry stated on Monday evening.

The autopsy is scheduled for this week according to Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Amb Macharia Kamau said. 

He added: “The Ministry is in close contact with the next of kin, as well as Consulate staff in Los Angeles, in order to better manage all the operational details, as well as to cushion the immediate family of the deceased officer, currently residing in Los Angeles.”

Ms Ogonda has been described as a “calm, effective staffer” who embraced teamwork. She was transferred to the Ministry in 2015 and was moved to Kenyan Consulate-General in Los Angeles in July 2018.
