The Sarova Stanley Hotel in Nairobi has pledged to provide free lunch to over 200 health workers at the Kenyatta National Hospital and Mbagathi Hospital.
The hotel’s management on Thursday said this will go a long way in appreciating the efforts of frontline health workers in the country helping in combating COVID-19.
“Kudos to the frontline healthcare workers as they help the Government manage the Covid19 pandemic. To appreciate their efforts,we’ll provide daily lunches to the more than 200 healthcare workers. Thankyou, we recognize your bravery & commitment,” Sarova stated.
Sarova joins the bandwagon of appreciating frontline health workers after the launch of #saasita which is meant to applaud them. Every day at noon, Kenyans take a minute to appreciate the efforts of the health workers by clapping for them.
On Tuesday, Kenya Air Force flew two helicopters in the city with a banner inscribed with a message of encouragement and for the health workers.
However, even as these good deeds put a smile on their faces, the number of COVID-19 cases has increased to 336 after 16 people tested positive on Friday.
In a daily brief presented by the CAS Ministry of Health Dr Rashid Aman, Nairobi accounted for 11 cases while Mombasa had five cases.
Dandora had 5 cases, Eastleigh (1), City Park (2), Parklands (2) and Pipeline (1). In Mombasa, Kiembeni (1), Centi Kumi (1), Stadium (1), Msikiti Nuru (1) and Mulaloni (1).
Dr Aman said that a total of 946 samples were tested adding that five more people have been discharged. The total number of those discharged now stands at 95.
