A man in Nairobi is facing assault charges after allegedly throwing off his 20-year-old girlfriend from the 12th floor on their first date while enjoying a drink on their first date.

Eunice Wangari Wakimbi in her narration to Nairobi Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu on Monday said she had met Moses Gatama on Facebook and they became friends, K24 reports.

She then accompanied him to Ambank House within Nairobi CBD where they indulged.

It is while enjoying their drinks that the accused made sexual advances to her and she resisted making him angry.

A fight then ensued and an angry Gatama threw her off from the window.

She was quickly rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital where she was admitted for six months.

In her blow-by-blow account, Wangari told the court that she travelled from Karura in Kiambu to meet Gatama within the CBD on September 13, 2020 and she even informed her mother about this.

It is Gatama who told her where to meet him and the merry-making began starting with a lunch date.

They bought two pieces of chicken and chips at Simbiza Hotel and then to Naivas Supermarket along Moi Avenue where they bought Captain Morgan and a bottle of soda.

They returned to Ambank House on the 12th floor and enjoyed their lunch and the rum until 7:30 pm when she requested to leave but Gitama was adamant.

He said that he wanted to spent the night together with her but she refused and an argument ensued.

An angry Gatama threw her out from the window and she landed on the 9th floor thereby sustaining major injuries to the pelvis. Wangari cannot walk on her own; she still needs aid to walk.

The incident was reported at the Central Police Station.

Wangari’s father is the one who took her daughter to hospital on the fateful evening, he told the court in his testimony on Monday.
