In the past weeks, there has been a lot of sad tales from former Tahidi High actors but the script for Albert Kimani alias “Joni” is different and inspirational.

It all started with Samuel Kinuthia alias Omosh, then Angel Warunige (Miss Morgan), Kellen and most recently, Mr Mweposi who is a former shadow of himself.

For Omosh, Mr Mweposi and Ms Morgan, the script was no different; they took to drinking after bouts with depression and ended up in the far end of misery.

However, Kimani is now doing well in the corporate world all thanks to his hard work in the theatre industry.

He joined Tahidi High cast in 2006 and was a novice but luck was on his side as he was picked as cast due to his willingness to learn and “his baby face”.

“The auditions were tough since I did not have a stage or TV acting background. But I got the role because of my spontaneity and improvising, positive attitude and my baby face, plus I was willing to learn,” he told a local site during an interview.

His act in Tahidi High got him a second acting role on Makutano Junction courtesy of Naomi Kamau who scripted Tahidi High.

A year later, Kimani got admitted to Kenyatta University to pursue a degree in Commerce which he gladly accepted.

Due to his busy schedule in acting, he got a credit transfer to the United States International University – Africa in 2010 and completed his course with a major in marketing in 2013.

He says he used money from his acting career to pay for his degree.

Before leaving Tahidi High, he scouted for jobs and was lucky to have landed one with Madison Insurance as a Business Executive.

This trained him to become a reputable marketer before switching camp to Mediamax Network in the same capacity for Kameme FM.

In 2014, he returned to Royal Media Services as a sales executive but he yearned for more than this.

Luckily, he landed a job with Ipsos, Kenya’s largest research firm and is into audience measurement.

He is also the founder of Rosebud Media Solutions which deals in film production and runs an engaging series on YouTube every Tuesday of the week.
