Opposition leader and NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga has asked Kenyans to maintain peace during and after the supreme court ruling in his presidential petition.

Raila’s message was delivered by Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o.

“Whatever happens today, we are winners. Go to church and temples to give thanks to God. A soldier lives to fight another battle. Therefore, today the world is not coming to an end” Said Raila in a statement.

Nyong’o read the message during the burial of Christabel Ouko, the widow of Robert Ouko.

Raila said that regardless of what the court decides, Kenyans must maintain unity and peace among themselves.

Nyong’o pleaded with the police to avoid brutality targeted to communities supporting the opposition, adding that Luo lives matter.

“Luo lives matter and, therefore, they should be protected much like other citizens.”

“We have discussed the concept of security to ensure lives and property are protected,” he said. “We don’t want more deaths linked to brutality” Said Nyong’o.
