Pressure is mounting on Kenyan authorities to bring to book the killers of IEBC ICT Director Chris Msando.

The African Union Commission (AU) Chairman Moussa Faki on Wednesday said Msando’s murder was shocking and a senseless act.

He condoled the family of the late Msando in a statement as reported by The Star.

“I extend my most sincere condolences to the family of the deceased as well as the management and staff of the IEBC on the loss of their loved one and colleague,” said the AU Chair.

He insisted Kenyan police must find the killers and have them before a Judge to answer for their crime.

Faki’s insistence to have the killers apprehended comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta directed on Tuesday that IEBC staff be accorded maximum security.

And on Wednesday, Government Spokesman Eric Kiraithe said they will provide security for IEBC staff.

Earlier, on Monday, the Commission’s Chairman Wafula Chebukati was provided six more cops to his security detail and two chase cars.

Kiraithe said plans have been made to the poll agency staff are safe and secure.

“The death of Msando is shocking to us all. It is regrettable that plans had not been made for IEBC officials to have proper security but this has been done,” said Kiraithe adding there is life after elections for the IEBC staff.

Msando was murdered on Friday and his body dumped at Muguga forest in Kikuyu alongside that of Maryanne Ngumbu.

Ngumbu, 21, is said to have been in the company of Msando that night.

She was a nursing student at Karen KMTC campus. She was due to graduate in December.
