When singer Akothee separated from her first husband, Jared Okello who is the father to her three daughters, her mother Monicah Kokeyo banned her from ever introducing another man to her.

Akothee, real name Esther Akoth, sired Fancy Makadia, Vesha Okello and Agrrey Dion alias Rue Baby in her first marriage.

When things went south and she walked away, her mother warned her that she will not accept any other man she introduces to her.

“She only knew one son-in-law… she pleaded with me to go back to my first marriage over time. She could not allow me to introduce her to any [other] man,” she said in a post on Instagram.

An adamant Akothee stood her ground and told her mother that she will only co-parent with Okello and not getting back to him.

“She only dropped this thing when I told her, ‘Mum, I will not go back to my ex. But we can be friends and keep at it as a family. We have kids’. She laughed. She stopped worrying about me, and now we are great of friends.”

Her marriage to Okelli lasted for 10 years but she had to walk out when things got to a point of no return.

Akothee is appreciative of her ex-husband because they were able to agree on how to co-parent.

In the past, she urged parents to avoid bringing the kids to their marital problems especially when divorce creeps in.

“I would never wish for any parents to divorce after living together for years and bringing up their children as a family. If it ever happens that there is a need to break up, then please try to do it decently without involving your children,” Akothee once asked parents.

On a lighter note though, described her father as an easy man who would not bother much who was being introduced as long as his needs were taken care of.

“My dad is the opposite, a man of few words, Josi, just buy him a phone, load credit and give him some pocket money and he will welcome that visitor you have brought to him. Take care of your parents as if you were born alone,” she added in the post.
