Angelic Embu MCA buys ambulance with Sh4.5m personal grant

A youthful MCA from Embu County has dazzled many after opting to buy a fully equipped ambulance for his constituents using Sh4.5 million car grant given to MCAs.

Kirimari ward MCA Morris Collo Nyaga seeks to boost the accessibility to health services for the people who voted for him.

In his address in Embu Town on Thursday when he unveiled the ambulance, the 28-year old MCA said he was moved by the plight of some of his constituents who at times suffer when they areas in need of medical evacuation but they have none.

He said he will do much more in his term.

“It is just six months since I was elected. I have not even purchased a new car, I had a blueprint and I want to implement it. I want everyone who cannot afford to hire an ambulance to use this one. It will have a designated area where it can be accessed,” said the MCA as told by Nairobi News.

The ambulance will be parked in different places within the ward where there will be a standby nurse and a driver at all times in case of an emergency.

In his six-month stint, he has successfully lobbied for tarmacking of several access roads within Embu municipality.

Dickson Ndwiga, a boda boda rider in Kirimari said Nyaga has lived up to his campaign promises.

“He told us that he would improve health and I believe this is a step in the right direction. Most residents especially those in informal settlements suffer in silence,” he said.

Nyaga has pledged to continue working towards bettering the lives of his constituents.

During the campaigns, Nyaga was attacked by supporters of his rival, Ibrahim Swaleh who Kirimari’s ward rep at the time.

Swaleh had run-ins with Governor Martin Wambora’s administration as he was the brains behind an impeachment motion against the Governor.
