Another 561 COVID-19 cases recorded in single day

There were 561 new COVID-19 cases recorded on Wednesday bringing the country’s total number of coronavirus cases to 89,661.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 6,387 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

Of the positive cases, 387 were male and 174 were female, while the youngest case was a one-year-old and the oldest was aged 87.

On Wednesday, some 355 patients were discharged; 274 from home-based care and 81 from various hospitals around the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 70,194.

Sadly, seven patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 1,552.

Kagwe also announced that 1,096 patients are currently admitted to various hospitals in the country while 8,016 are under the home-based care programme.

 Another 63 patients are in ICU, 32 of whom are on ventilator support and 26 on supplementary oxygen. While five are under observation.

 Nairobi led with 189, Mombasa 85, Bungoma 65, Busia 36, Kericho 19, Kiambu 19, Kwale 19, Kisumu 17, Embu 13, Kilifi 12, Nakuru 11, Lamu 11, Uasin Gishu 9, Marsabit 9, Kakamega 7.

Nyeri 6, Kirinyaga 6, Machakos 4, Laikipia 4, Kajiado 3, Murang’a 2, Homa Bay 2, Turkana 2, Makueni 2, Tana River 2, Taita Taveta 1, Nyandarua 1 and Elgeyo Marakwet 1, Vihiga 1, Meru1 , Siaya 1, and Trans Nzoia 1.
