APs protest as their sh10, 000 dues remain unpaid for security coverage during party nominations

Administration Police officers who took part in providing security during party nominations in April are in protest after allowances amounting to sh10, 000 for each failed to be paid out, reports the Star.

In a notice dated June 14, and signed by Deputy IG Dominic Kisavi and sent to all regions in the country; APs are demanding to have the money paid this month.

Kisavi noted that the sh10, 000 should reflect in their pay slips.

“Following the successful security coverage of the political party primaries, and the continued commitment being exhibited by officers to cover political campaign rallies, the inspector general has authorised the payment of allowances of Sh10,000,” reads part of the  notice.

But some quarters within the force allege that the money has already been paid to senior ranking officers.

A source who requested not to be named said that in one of the pay slips for a certain OCPD, the money has been paid out but highlighted as “unknown”.

But in response to the letter, The Administration Police Service acknowledged failure to pay out the money but blamed it on a system error.

“The same has been sorted out and processing is underway.”

The response letter was sent out to all regional police divisions.
