The Archbishop of Canterbury has feted three Kenyan Anglican Bishops for their exemplary service.
Retired Bishop of Maseno West Diocese Joseph Otieno Wasonga and St Paul’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Joseph Galgalo received the 2020 Lambeth Conference Awards, reports the Standard.
Dr Lydia Mwaniki received the Lanfranc Award for Education and Scholarship. She has been very instrumental in the post-colonial interpretation of the New Testament and advocacy for gender equality.
The Archbishop of Canterbury also feted Rt Rev Wasonga and Rev Canon Galgalo with the Cross of St Augustine for Services to the Anglican Communion.
The three reverends are among 32 global church leaders who have been recognized for their exemplary services.
Retired Bishop Wesonga was hailed for his role while in active service and leading the church to greater heights in Maseno West Diocese. He was also the Anglican Dean of the Province of Kenya.
Under his stewardship, he managed to enhance research and facilitated that Bishops Peer Mentoring workshop in Africa operated smoothly.
For his committed work in the study of theology and entrepreneurship, the Archbishop of Canterbury said that Rev Galgalo will retire a distinguished religious leader. The St Paul’s VC is retiring this year after a 10-year stint at Saint Paul.
Under him, he bags great pride in holding so much influence in the Anglican Communion.
