Five M-Pesa outlet owners in Limuru town are in great hue and cry after being robbed on Wednesday evening by two armed thugs.

According to the Star, the thugs wielding a pistol and a G3 rifle moved from one shop to the other and in a span of one hour, they made away with sh1 million.

James Gaitho, an M-Pesa owner narrated his ordeal saying that they came to his shop and ordered everyone to lie down before taking away the cash from him and the customers inside the shop.

“We thought they were customers. They arrived and when we asked them to state the service they wanted, they ordered the three customers who were waiting to be served to get in, lie down and remain silent or get shot.

They took more than Sh250,000 from my shop and (also robbed) customers who had come to make deposits. I’m not sure how much they were robbed but one had come to deposit Sh25,000. It was around 7.20pm,” he narrated.

A total of five outlets were robbed during the incident.

The thuggery has left many business people worried.

Another proprietor, Ann Wangui said they robbed her customers over sh300, 000 and ordered her to lock herself in the washroom and only leave after they were gone.

However, Area AP commander James Mwaura has assured Limuru residents of security.

He said they have increased day and night patrols.
