American ‘Queen of Pop’ 62-year-old Madonna took Samburu and Baringo by surprise with her unannounced visit over the weekend.
She took a chopper ride to Baringo Valley, the border between Baringo and West Pokot counties.
Here, she was received by enthusiastic locals who were in utter disbelief that an American celebrity toured their village.
Elated, they broke into song and dance which Madonna, accompanied by her 26-year-old lover Alhamalik joined graciously.
“Visiting the Pokot Tribe in the Baringo Valley was a special moment for all of us. They invited us to dance with them and shared their daily prayer of thanks,” she posted on Instagram.
In Samburu where she was treated to an electrifying welcome.
In a separate post, Madonna said she feels honoured spending time learning of the culture and traditions of the Samburu people.
“Spending time with the Samburu tribe is always an honor,” she said adding “they are nomadic warriors and here the men are singing, dancing and telling stories to attract the attention of the females.”
She interacted with the Samburu people and at one point sought advice on how to keep her marriage intact from one of the locals.
Madonna has divorced twice. Although she is 62, she believes that she can still get it right on more time, with Alhamalik perhaps.
This was her second visit to Kenyan in four years. In 2016, she visited Africa’s biggest slum; Kibera slums in Nairobi.
Madonna, a mother of six – 2 biological children, 4 adopted in Malawi – became the third celebrity to visit the country in the last month.
In December 2020, American RnB star Ashanti visited Kenya. She even toured the Nairobi National Park and spoke of how impressed the tour of the only park in the city was.
Ashanti stayed at the Hemingways Hotel in Nairobi.
In mid-December, British model, Naomi Campbell arrived at the Mombasa International Airport and headed to Malindi.
She was booked for a month-long vacation at the prestigious Lion In The Sun resort owned by her one-time Italian billionaire boyfriend Flavio Briatore.
