Activist Boniface Mwangi has launched a scathing attack against State House Senior Director of Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication Dennis Itumbi.

Mwangi who runs Pawa254, an NGO, described Itumbi as an acquaintance for over 10 years. He said he had a cordial relationship with him before he was handed the powerful position which made him change.

He took a swipe at Itumbi saying that for the period he has been serving at the Office of the President, he developed a habit of distorting facts and peddling falsehoods to tarnish the image of the media where he once worked and also that of the civil society.

“Itumbi reminds me of Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s chief of propaganda. Itumbi has no problem falsely accusing people of things they haven’t done,” said Mwangi in a hard-hitting post on Facebook Monday.

In reference to the widely talked about Lang’ata Primary School land grabbing, he noted that “In matters lying, in 2014 Itumbi went on national TV and accused me of teargassing Lang’ata Primary School children. A big lie.

“Teargas is only imported by the State and civilian possession of it is a crime. If his lie had been based on facts, I would have been arrested and charged. I wasn’t. So Dennis Itumbi is a proven liar.”

“He has been leading in labeling judges and activists as an “axis of evil”. He is doing that with the sole aim to destroy people’s reputations,” scoffed the activist.

Mwangi also trashed Itumbi’s narrative the Kenyan civil society is funded by the West to further their agenda. “And Itumbi’s silly narrative that activists are paid by the west is pure hogwash.”

He further ridiculed Itumbi’s office in relation to its services to Kenyans living in the Diaspora. He said he has not seen any way it has helped Kenyans living in the diaspora.

“To Kenyans in the diaspora, Dennis Itumbi supposedly works for you…Yet he has done nothing for you,” opined Mwangi.

He added: “He hasn’t fought for your right to vote. He hasn’t made it easier for you to get your passports. You still can’t invest easily in Kenya without fearing that you will be swindled.”

“So, if you’re a dual citizen, know that the Senior Director of Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication in the Office of the President doesn’t care about you.”

In response to Mwangi’s assertions, Itumbi said, “this is ad hominem, Great minds discuss issues. Small minds discuss people.”
