Kenya’s renowned city billionaire Chris Kirubi has turned down a job offer made by a gubernatorial hopeful in the city.

On Sunday, Kirubi, the proprietor of several high ranking companies in the country, rejected an offer by Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko to become his Chief Economic Advisor once he clinches the governorship on August 8.

Kirubi who spoke to the Standard on Sunday in relation to the matter cited that he does not in anyway feel inclined to take up the job offer because Sonko is not known to him and he has never met him.

“How do you offer a job to someone you have never met or spoken to? I don’t know this man neither do I have his number,” he retorted.

He also said that he is not interested in politics at all and that he works for international organizations.

“I am not interested in politics, I work for International organizations and I have no time for Sonko’s job offer,” he added.

Sonko, in a move to chide his opponents and raise stakes ahead of Jubilee primaries, posted on his facebook page Saturday that he has the capacity to run the city impeccably even if he does not hold a Ph.D.

It is at this point that he said he would bring on board savvy minds including Kirubi’s to restore the city’s glory.

“I am and have always been a team player who will delegate, assign, and appoint professionals to run the affairs of the county, to that effect, plans are underway to make investor Chris Kirubi as our county’s Chief Economic Advisor,” he posted.

Kirubi runs profitable companies in the country such as Capital FM, Haco Industries, Nairobi Bottlers Ltd among others.
