The hunt for billionaire businessman Jimmy Wanjigi has taken a new twist as a contingent of heavily armed officers made way to him Muthaiga home for the second day.

The officers from special crime prevention unit were seen making entry to his home.

With them, was a tool box with equipment pointing to a move to force the doors of the house open.

Some officers were also captured on camera at the main gate as they headed to his residence with bolt cutters, another indication they will force their way into his residence.

On Monday, officers raided a home in Malindi believed to be owned by Wanjigi-NASA’s main bankroller.

Here, five AK47 rifles were confiscated with 93 rounds of ammunition.

After these findings, a different group of officers stormed his Muthaiga home where they were denied access.

And on Tuesday, they forced their way into the house.

Wanjigi’s whereabouts are not known following the incident.

NASA through Siaya Senator James Orengo claim Wanjigi is being targeted by the state unjustifiably.

Orengo who spoke to journalists outside Wanjigi’s Muthaiga residence said the Malindi home does not belong to the billionaire.

The NASA lawyer said the weapons were intentionally planted in his house over his links with NASA.

“The information we have is that the home raided in Malindi doesn’t belong to Jimmy and the cache of firearms were planted,” said Orengo according to the Star.

Remaining mum on Wanjigi’s whereabouts, Orengo said he spoke to his wife and father who expressed displeasure with acts by police to storm his residence without a court order.

“There is no basis for the police to continue being here as they have no arrest warrant. This is an illegal act and points to circumstances aimed at trumping up charges.”

Suna East MP and ODM Director of Elections Junet Mohammed pointed an accusing finger on Jubilee regime.

“Wanjigi is being targeted because of his association with NASA. He is being hunted. It appears some quarters are not happy,” lamented Junet.

The media have been kept out of the residence which is currently being manned by GSU officers.

The gates only open when police vehicles come in and come out.

Wanjigi has in past governments cut high-end tender deals worth billions and was also involved in the Anglo Leasing scandal.
