Police have arrested a gubernatorial aspirant in Nairobi. Bishop Margaret Wanjiru was arrested on Wednesday by police from Parklands Police Station after she led a group of protestors to City Park polling center.

Together with the protestors, they stormed the center and destroyed voting materials over what they termed as a mix up in the ballot papers.

She alleged that ballot papers for other areas were at the polling center. Wanjiru observed that she found ballot papers for Dagoretti South at the polling center.

She called for a repeat of the exercise for City Park polling center.

“I am calling upon the National Elections Board to repeat the elections for City park market polling station since the exercise at this station started at 3PM and we have now found ballot papers for Dagoretti her,” she said.,

After making this call, she headed to Jubilee Party headquarters to file a similar complaint but was intercepted by police and shuttle to Parklands Police station.

She is among three candidates battling for the city’s Jubilee ticket.

Others are Mike Sonko and Peter Kenneth.

With her arrest, she has stirred yet another controversy after being caught on camera dishing out money to her supporters last week.

She has since denied the claims.
