The body of a Kenyan nurse who was brutally murdered on January 17 in Essen, Germany where she had been working has arrived in the country.

Mary Waithera, 27, will be buried at her Kayole home in Naivash on Friday.

“The body will arrive at JKIA on Tuesday night and we have made plans to transfer it to a private mortuary ahead of the burial in Kinamba village on Friday,” said her brother Samuel Njuguna according to the Star.

German police have revealed that Waithera was killed by Tanzanian friend who has since gone into hiding.

Waithera’s body was flown from Germany to Kenya through the help of friends who fundraised.

Njuguna termed the death of his sister as a big blow tote family. He, however, thanked Kenyan community in Germany for answering his call to help her family bring back her body to Kenya.

Waithera was the second born in her family. She has been supporting them in a big way according to her mother Alice Kamathi.

“My firstborn son and I are diabetic. Since my husband died seven years ago we have been relying on my daughter,” her mother Alice Kamathi earlier said.

Naivasha MP Jane Kihara called on German authorities to apprehend the suspect saying it is a painful experience to send your child abroad and later get him/her in a casket.

“There is nothing as painful as a parent sending a child abroad only to be called to collect their body.”

Njuguna said information they have from German police is that they will do everything to arrest the culprit.

“Police told us the suspect is still at large but they have exuded confidence it’s a matter of time before they catch up with him,” Njuguna noted.
