The National Police Service will dismiss a rogue police officer captured on tape soliciting for a bribe from motorists.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet on Saturday said the service will not tolerate robbery and extortion which Corporal Jared Ogutu was found engaging in.

In a viral video circulating in social media, the officer is captured harassing a motorist demanding for a bribe for alleged speeding along Narok Highway.

The driver of the car identifies himself as a master’s student from Uganda’s Makerere University travelling to Nairobi for a project with his professor.

But the rogue officer hears none of it; he demands for a bribe which he specifies should be in thousands because he does not deal with “small money”.

“We only accept thousands but if you have Sh2000, that is fine,” says Corporal Ogutu who takes Sh1, 000 from the driver who says that is all he has.

Boinett in response after public outcry said that, “The officer in question is being processed by the Police disciplinary code for eventual dismissal.”
