East Africa’s job website, BrighterMonday has a new tool testing the abilities of the job applicant during the hiring process making it easier for employers.

The new tool puts to test the abilities of the job applicant and captures more than is detailed in an individual’s CV.

It also ensures that the job applicant possesses necessary hard skills and competencies in line with a specific job which he/she applies for.

“The tests are industry-specific and have been curated by experts making them excellent predictors of a candidate’s ability to perform the tasks required, allowing employers to pick suitable candidates with ease,” chief executive officer, Emmanuel Mutuma, said according to the Star.

The assessment will be undertaken on-the-go by each job applicant applying for any listed vacancy on the website.

The system now has a tracking mechanism for each applicant with a back-end filter complementing the assessment tool.

This will enable a potential employer view to detail about a specific candidate including details of his work experience and level of education.

From the findings, the hiring manager can assess if or not the candidate is suitable for the position.

Mutuma holds that the new strategy aims at weeding out thousands of applications which are at times made for a single job position.

This will be less laborious for the employer in picking candidates for interviews.

This move may have been inspired by a decade-old complaint by employers of having unskilled graduates flooding the job market.

Federation of Kenyan Employers (FKE) said that the job market has taken a paradigm shift and is now focused on the skills a job seeker possesses other than academic qualifications
