Brookhouse International Schools Kenya is once again in the headlines after demanding Ksh45,000 re-enrollment fee.
Parents in the school say they are under advisory by the school Parents Association Committee (PAC) not to cave in to the “illegal demand”.
They say that that this is tantamount to signing a new contract with the school while there is an ongoing petition in court yet to give a determination on this.
Brookhouse has asked all parents to pay this fee by Monday next week.
This comes even after parents moved to court a few months ago decrying exorbitant school fees levelled on them by the school for online learning.
Each parent was required to pay Ksh700,000 for the second term online learning. They petitioned this decision through lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi.
Following the petition in court which cited among other things, discounted rates by other institutions due to coronavirus pandemic, Brookhouse School director, John O’Connor said only a section of the parents are fighting this.
In a replying letter dated April 20, O’Connor said that the school will not reduce fees as some parents want adding that only those who comply will have their children continue with their studies here.
“While the school may not agree with some of the comments made in your letter, we move forward with a positive commitment to our whole school community in a spirit of mutual respect,” said O’connor.
“We are collecting the data of our students to know who are willing to enrol and continue with our lessons,” he added.
