Kenya’s business magnate Chris Kirubi has been flown to the US for specialized treatment after a two-week admission at a top local hospital.

His sickness was confirmed by Centum CEO James Mworia in an internal memo to staff members.

In the memo, Mworia said Kirubi was undergoing further medical examination in the United States.

“Dr Kirubi …travelled to the United States for further investigation on Monday,” he said as quoted by Nairobi News.

He did not however, disclose the kind of illness the mogul who is in his 70’s was suffering from.

Earlier reports indicated Kirubi was in critical condition. But Mworia dispelled this rumor saying his boss was “in good spirits”.

“Dr Kirubi, whom I spent time with on Monday and saw off at the airport, and have spoken to on multiple occasions since, remains in good spirits and actively engaged on business matters in his usual endearing fashion.”

He holds about 10 leadership positions in companies within the country.
