Car owners, specifically those who own Toyota Fielder model in Embu are under siege following a heightened car theft syndicate targeting the model.
Embu North OCPD Mark Wanjala said members of the syndicate have been storming people’s homes are steal the vehicles.
Wanjala told Citizen Digital that in the last one week, two Toyota Fielders have been stolen in Kirigi and Kibugua areas.
He said that the suspects trail the vehicles and even go ahead to rent houses close to homes where the owners of the vehicles live.
Most of the stolen vehicles have been traced to Nairobi according to the police boss.
One of the victims whose vehicle was stolen, Ann Ruguru said she did not hear her engine start which means the vehicle was stolen in the wee hours of the night.
Most of those whose vehicles have been stolen said their windows are smashed and the ignition system tampered with.
