Cases of Cholera reported at a city hotel where doctors’ conference on respiratory diseases is ongoing

A cholera outbreak has been reported at Nairobi’s Weston Hotel where a science conference is going on.

Dr. George Nyale, chairman of the conference said the public should not worry as they have taken contingent measures to contain the spread.

A number of doctors are among those attending The Kenya International Scientific Lung Health Conference at the hotel.

Dr. George said that microbiological and other tests are being done to confirm that reported cases of gastroenteritis are as a result of cholera.

The Ministry of Health dispatched a team of professionals to the hotel to deal with the situation.

Ironically enough, the over 500 doctors and scientists have been at the hotel discussing Kenya’s vulnerability to respiratory diseases.

A source said there could be more cases than reported, “but they are doctors so they are sorting themselves out”.

Some victims have been admitted at The Nairobi Hospital.

Medics from Amref were seen at the premises with three of their ambulances.
