Celebration of Lowell’s Vibrant African Community to Benefit Lowell Community Health Center

Lowell Community Health Center launch of dental and eye-care services. April 2018

LOWELL, MA – Lowell Community Health Center (Lowell CHC) will host an African Community Celebration from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, September 20th on the 6th floor of its 161 Jackson Street building.

The event will celebrate the people and home countries of Lowell’s vibrant African community while raising funds for the Health Center’s WrapAround Fund, which pays for services that are not covered by health insurance, such as medical interpretation, linking patients to health insurance, free teen programs, and community education and outreach.

The evening, modeled after the Kenyan Harambee, which literally means “All Pull Together,” will feature music, delicious food, and raffles. Tickets to the event are $35 in advance and $50 after September 12th. To purchase tickets or for sponsorship information, visit www.lchealth.org or contact Clare Gunther at 978.746.7891 or [email protected]

“The African community receives tremendous support from Lowell CHC,” said Mercy Anampiu, event chair. “This is a chance to give back and to also celebrate the many countries of Africa represented in Lowell.” Event committee members also include Jacquelynn Coles; Clare Gunther; Vanna Howard; Faith Kaliba; Lorna Kiplagat; Carley Monell; Esther Nganga; and Susan West Levine, CEO of Lowell CHC.
