Suspended IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba has found new love in farming as he battles his forced 3-month leave from the commission.

The CEO in an interview with Daily Nation on Tuesday said he will concentrate on his farm in Trans Nzoia. He says he bought the farm in 2011 but has not developed it since then due to lack of time.

He said his ambition is to turn it to a model farm for the community to learn best farming practices. This will also be a way to give back to the community.

“I want this farm to be a demonstration plot for the community members to learn the best farming practices that will transform their lives,” he said.

Chiloba has planted 600 passion-fruit trees, 500 tissue culture bananas, 100 avocado trees and 340 coffee trees plus a number of indigenous trees.

He said he is hearkening to the call by leaders led by Governor Patrick Khaemba to grow high value crops that can withstand vagaries of weather, pests and diseases.

“I want to make the farm a model for the community and my desire is to make residents transform their lives through agri-business instead of relying on maize, which has become valueless and frustrated most farmers.”

Weighing in on the storm at IEBC, Chiloba said he has nothing to say since he has left the matter to relevant authorities to handle it.

“I really don’t want to dwell much on what has happened but I leave the matter for the relevant authorities to decide,” remarked Chiloba.
