The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has named a new team to manage repeat polls.

Surprisingly, a section of IEBC staff have been put on bay, a move perceived to have resulted from pressure by the National Super Alliance.

NASA had called for the removal of Ezra Chiloba (CEO), Immaculate Kasait (director of election affairs), James Muhati (ICT head), Betty Nyabuto (Deputy CEO) and Praxedes Tororey (Legal affairs head).

In the new lineup, the five have been left out.

In a statement on Tuesday, Chairman Wafula Chebukati replaced Chiloba with Marjan Hussein Marjan, who managed support structures in the commission.

He will be the project coordinator in the repeat polls.

Dr Sidney Namulungu replaces Nyabuto. She will be head of operations.

Nancy Kariuki takes over the roles of Kasait and Kamwati and she will be the head of logistics.

Muhati was replaced by Albert Gogo, while Ms Tororey was replaced by Salome Oyugi.

Bernard Misati Moseti, replaces Anne Nderitu, the head of training at the commission while Silas Rotich will be the head of the National Tallying Center.

“The appointment takes immediate effect and will last for a period of 3 months,” said Chebukati.

He said the re-arrangement shows the commission is committed to conducting free, fair and credible polls as is the will of Kenyan citizens.

Chebukati however, did not bow to NASA demand to have poll date changed.

He gazetted October 17 as the official repeat poll date.

Raila Odinga had earlier said they will not accept to hold elections of on 17th. He said the date should be set at 23rd October.
