Citizen TV journalist, 5-month-old infant test positive for coronavirus

A five-month-old infant is the youngest to have contracted COVID-19 on Friday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced.

Kagwe said that 389 people tested positive in the last 24 hours from a sample size of 3,545 bringing the total number of infections to 12,062.The oldest is 95 years old.

Of the news cases, 385 are Kenyans while four are foreigners.

260 males and 129 females tested positive.

Kagwe announced that Nairobi continues to lead in the number of infections with 6,671 cases recorded so far followed by Mombasa 1,794 and Kiambu with 666 cases.

Some 1,124 patients were discharged bringing the total number of discharged patients to 4,764.

However, four people lost their lives bringing the death toll to 221.

On matter coronavirus, it has now emerged that a Citizen TV journalist recently tested positive and is in isolation.

The journalist who requested not to be named said that he is responding well to treatment and is going about his business while in his isolation room.

This comes days after another employee of Mediamax tested positive for COVID-19 as well as several others from Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
