Comedian KJ beats MP Dennis Waweru in Dagoretti South Jubilee primaries

Former Redkyulass comedian, John Kiarie, popularly known as KJ, has won the Dagoretti South Jubilee Parliamentary primaries.

Kiarie garnered 9,793 votes to beat the incumbent legislator, Dennis Waweru, who garnered 9,051 votes. KJ had tried twice in the 2007 and 2013 elections but was not successful in both.

 KJ rose to fame as a top comedian in the early 2000s comedy TV show- Redykyulass.
Waweru joins the list of multiple incumbents ousted during the ongoing primaries.

Among those who have lost in the ruling Jubilee Party include MPs Njoroge Baiya, John Kiragu, Kigo Njenga, and Esther Gathogo.

The Kiambu County Woman Representative Anne Nyokabi also lost to Gathoni wa Muchomba formerly of Kameme FM, who garnered a massive 374,306 votes.

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo is also in the camp of losers after Kiambu voters gifted Kabete Member of Parliament Ferdinand Waititu with 80% of the votes to clinch the gubernatorial nomination for Kiambu.

In the ODM primaries, three top politicians lost in Nyanza. They include Railaa’s brother Oburu Odinga who lost to incumbent MP Gideon Ochanda, Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo also lost to his rival Elisha Odhiambo.
