“Corrupt” IEBC officials belong to jail, says Raila after nullification of Uhuru’s win

Opposition Chief Raila Odinga has said the National Super Alliance (NASA) has no faith in IEBC conducting fresh elections.

Addressing the press on Friday outside the Supreme Court after nullification of the August 8 polls, he said the coalition has no faith in the poll agency conducting fresh election 60 days away.

“We have no faith in IEBC who committed criminal acts and they belong to jail. We will ask for prosecution of all the officials who have caused this,” said Raila.

The Judges delivered their ruling on Friday and nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta’s election.

Out of the six Judges, four sided with NASA while two; Justices Njoki Ndungu and Jackton Ojwang took a different stand.

“Presidential election was not conducted in accordance with the Constitution. The results are null and void,” Chief Justice David Maraga said on Friday.

Raila said that the court ruling was victory for Kenyans.

“This is a triumph for the people of Kenya. Our journey to Canaan is unstoppable,” said he.

Together with his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka, Raila praised the Judges for the ruling.

“For the first time, a ruling has been made by court nullifying the elections. I want to thank the judges for doing this for posterity of people of Kenya,” said the NASA Presidential candidate.

“Kalonzo added: “I am happy to be a Kenyan today. We will have to look deeply into the conduct of IEBC. We do not have faith that they are capable of conducting a free and fair elections.”

NASA lead counsel in the petition and Siaya Senator echoed Raila call not to have IEBC conduct the fresh polls ordered by the court.

Fresh elections should be conducted within 60 days from the date of the ruling from the date of the ruling.
